David Jerrard began his yachting career in Antibes during 1964 initially crewing on superyachts and later as a delivery skipper for yacht brokers and charter companies. Since then David has skippered a wide variety of boats, sail and power, in many parts of the world, both professionally and for pleasure, and is a long time member of the Ocean Cruising Club.

An ISA and RYA Yachtmaster instructor for both sail and power David has been teaching the Irish Sailing Association and the Royal Yachting Association Yachtmaster cruising courses since 1991. He has worked in America and the Mediterranean as well as in Ireland instructing recreational sailors and professional superyacht captains and crew.

David is Chief Examiner for the Irish Sailing Association’s Yachtmaster cruising scheme. He has led the training and assessment of ISA Yachtmaster examiners and played a central role in the development of the ISA Yachtmaster shorebased course progression and material into its present form.

David is also an enthusiastic amateur yacht designer and builder. His first design was 21 feet, the next 36 feet and he is currently fitting out a 41 footer.
